چکیده

Aromatic L-Amino acid decarboxylase (AADC) deficiency is a rare neurometabolic disorder due to homozygous or compound heterozygous pathogenic variant of the DDC gene, resulting in low synthesis biogenic amines dopamine, serotonin, epinephrine, and norepinephrine. Most patients had severe expression disease with global developmental delay, early hypotonia, movement disorders such as oculogyric crises, tremor, dystonia. Oromandibular dystonia (OMD) rarely recognized AADC deficiency. The aim this study was describe OMD detail 4 occurred isolated form association increasing difficulty care during crises. main tongue associated mouth opening must be included list genetic causes OMD.

Consensus guideline for the diagnosis and treatment of aromatic l-amino acid decarboxylase (AADC) deficiency

Aromatic L-amino acid decarboxylase deficiency (AADCD) is a rare, autosomal recessive neurometabolic disorder that leads to a severe combined deficiency of serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine and epinephrine. Onset is early in life, and key clinical symptoms are hypotonia, movement disorders (oculogyric crisis, dystonia, and hypokinesia), developmental delay, and autonomic symptoms. In this cons...

Aromatic L-Amino Acid Decarboxylase (AADC) Is Crucial for Brain Development and Motor Functions

Aromatic L-amino acid decarboxylase (AADC) deficiency is a rare pediatric neuro-metabolic disease in children. Due to the lack of an animal model, its pathogenetic mechanism is poorly understood. To study the role of AADC in brain development, a zebrafish model of AADC deficiency was generated. We identified an aadc gene homolog, dopa decarboxylase (ddc), in the zebrafish genome. Whole-mount in...

Aromatic L-amino acid decarboxylase deficiency: diagnostic methodology.

Aromatic L-amino acid decarboxylase (EC. 4.1.1.28) deficiency is a newly described inborn error of metabolism that affects serotonin and dopamine biosynthesis. The major biochemical markers for this disease are increases of L-dopa, 3-methoxytyrosine, and 5-hydroxytryptophan in urine, plasma, and cerebrospinal fluid together with decreased cerebrospinal fluid concentrations of homovanillic acid ...

Gene therapy for aromatic L-amino acid decarboxylase deficiency.

Aromatic L-amino acid decarboxylase (AADC) is required for the synthesis of the neurotransmitters dopamine and serotonin. Children with defects in the AADC gene show compromised development, particularly in motor function. Drug therapy has only marginal effects on some of the symptoms and does not change early childhood mortality. Here, we performed adeno-associated viral vector-mediated gene t...

Aromatic L-Amino acid decarboxylase deficiency: A new case from Turkey with a novel mutation

Aromatic L-amino acid decarboxylase (AADC), a vitamin B6-requiring enzyme that converts L-dopa to dopamine and 5-hydroxytryptophan to serotonin. Deficiency of this enzyme results in developmental delay, muscular hypotonia, dystonia, involuntary movements, autonomic dysfunction, and oculogyric crises. We now report a 2-year-old Turkish boy with AADC deficiency confirmed by greatly reduced AADC a...
